Spring is in the air!!

Gisteren hebben de discusvissen van Ruud hun eerste eitjes gelegd!! Zo'n leuk gezicht! Hier zie je het vrouwtje met de eerste vijf exemplaren...

Yesterday the discus-fishes of Ruud layed their first eggs!! It was such a amusing thing to see! On this picture you see the female fish with the first five eggs..

...maar er kwamen er nog veeeeel meer. Het paartje werkte heel goed samen, het vrouwtje kijkt hier toe hoe het mannetje de eitjes bevrucht...

...but many more followed. The couple was cooperating very well, here the female fish watches the male fish inseminate the eggs..

....en het mannetje kijkt toe hoe het vrouwtje de volgende serie eitjes legt.

.... and the male watches the female laying the next serie of eggs.

Zo, dat was het dan! Nu duimen dat de eitjes uitkomen. Als het goed is, gaat dat ongeveer na zo'n 48 uur gebeuren.

So, the job is done. Now fingers crossed for the eggs to come out ( don't know if that's good english..). That will be in about 48 hours.

Vandaag is het stel de hele dag bezig met het 'schoon houden' van de eitjes. Dat doen ze door er zachtjes met hun vinnen overheen te 'borstelen'. Hard werken hoor!

Today the couple is busy 'cleaning' the eggs. They do that by gently brushing them with their fins.
